Hi!     WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE!                           STRAIGHT TO BLOG
My name is Dina.                                                              STRAIGHT TO WIRED MONKS WRITERS' GROUP

ABOUT ME
Birth, I suppose, is as good a place to begin as any - the study of birthdays is a billion-dollar industry, after all.  I was born a Virgo, an allusion to eternal youth and optimism - an event I once assumed my mother would never forget.

My own memories - and some are even true - of my birthplace, a small Acadian village called Cheticamp in the Cape Breton Highlands of Nova Scotia, are featured in my first novel, Garden of the Gods,  nominated in the best first novel category of the
Atlantic Fiction Awards.  I'm a member and co-founder of the Halifax Wired Monks, a writers' critique group.

Our home in Halifax (where the Wired Monks meet) Painting by Patricia Shattuck
I live in Halifax with my husband Pete and our cat '13'.

After a dozen years in education both in the classroom and in the role of Education Manager for UNICEF Canada's where I advocated for universal children's rights, global citizenship and lectured part-time at a local university, I am on an official hiatus (two weeks in).

The Plan: Final Revision of novel # 2!!

The Package!

Any writer will tell you that one of the most exciting days in their life is receiving that first box with copies of their first novel.

My friends and I headed to a favourite coffee shop where we got stares --  five people reading the same book struck passersby as a tad strange...

Fond memories with UNICEF Canada
