Letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper (cont'd):
UPDATE: Truth be told, I'm not that much further ahead than I was two years ago.
It seems we may all require a more collective effort in our aspirations to become better human beings.
But, just imagine for a moment all the connections & synergies between people & communities increasing as each of us lets go of the tiny cages weighing us down.
This letting go involves starting fresh in the present moment.
Oh, Innocent little line!!
That sentence could scare the pants off anyone.
I'll be the first to admit that I've held onto problems, unhealthy situations, and outworn roles and relationships because I felt safe in their familiarity.
And it's not the most ORIGINAL resolution conjured up, but there it is. I am asking you to consider this collective resolution.
I am asking you, Mr. Harper, to please join me in imagining 2013 as a world where everyone lets go of old baggage, of limiting beliefs, of childhood conditioning, of judgments & resentments.
Perhaps letting go of all of it is too much to ask...
How about we each think instead of ONE particular debilitating inner voice and give that one the boot??
For example, you could give the boot to the inner voice (be it pride, stubbornness, or fear) that's preventing you from granting Chief Theresa Spence the visit she has requested. I know it is in you.
Even the Muppets, via John Denver, know that:
It's In Every one of us to be Wise
Find your heart,
Open up both your eyes.
We can all know everything
Without ever knowing why
It's in every one of us, by and by
As for me, I've been paying more attention to where I resist & where I struggle, and this year I'm starting with one particularly pesky cage:
♦ The cage of old stories & roles & beliefs.
Everyone who know me also knows how much I attach myself to stories...
Although the stories to which I'm referring are the ones that limit the depth and expansiveness of who we are, past roles and stories.
I read somewhere once that you could imagine taking the old stories and roles off like pieces of clothing & then stepping away from them & leaving the room.
My wish to you:
May you tune into who you are without your old stories of what kind of Prime Minister or human being you are. May you dig deep to find those limiting beliefs that are not your highest truth and release them.
As a proud and always hopeful citizen of this great nation, I am asking you to please, please meet with Chief Spence.
Respectfully, and with compassion,
TartanFrog
