Chomsky quote (cont'd):
Source: Facebook
There's no arguing that high debts can turn some into de facto indentured servants, BUT:
Having said that,
1. I'm not seeing debt-free rich people marching in droves to city hall, or parliament hill, or starting social revolutions either. Do you, Noam?
(Btw, no disrespect intended by calling you Noam...I almost feel as if I know you personally given I've been reading & considering your words since I studied linguistics at Dalhousie - & incurring debt:)
2. I love what Jonathan Archambault said on Facebook in French..."Ok la faut pas virer fou non plus..."
Translation: 'Ok, let not go nuts either...once upon a time the poor simply did not have the right to access higher education. Let's be open & aware, rather than paranoid.'
(Jonathan, you made me laugh - whether I 100% agree or not isn't the point - I love the tone of your opinion)
3. And then, Melanie Elizabeth Messier commented about how worried she was about the minds of those she was walking this planet with!
(Me too sometimes, though I'm thinking it's not quite for the same reasons)
4. Laura Young made a valid point here: "...the same argument could be made for people who amass a huge debt on ANYTHING...except you can't foreclose on my education once it is earned."
So today, I'm ending my blog MINUS any summation that wraps this up into anything nice & tidy. It's up to you to make up your own conclusion.
Yes, it segued; yes, it seemed like it really wasn't going anywhere for awhile, but sometimes:
THAT'S LIFE!!
Peace out,
Have a great weekend,
